Three years ago, Sam Brett picked up an acoustic guitar for the first time and decided to teach himself some basic chords. that he then used to cover the Jack Johnson song 'Sitting, Waiting, wishing.' Jack Johnson was an artist that Brett listened to a lot at the time, which then inspired him to start playing the guitar. After finally figuring out the chords, Brett then sang along to the track, as he wanted to make the song a whole. As he sang along to the guitar, his father overheard him and was impressed by the hidden talent that his son possessed. From then on, Brett sang less because he was worried that his father would be listening in on him. After a while of practicing, (only when he had an empty house), Brett finally plucked up the courage to sing to his parents, in which they were thoroughly impressed by their son's talent, and have supported him ever since. A few weeks later Brett heard the news that his cousin was getting married. The wedding was planned to happened within the next few months, so Brett took this as an opportunity and thought, after learning some basic chords, he would attempt to write a song for his cousin and his cousin's partner. Brett then gathered some information of how they met, and tried to word it in order to create a story. After writing the lyrics, he put a few of the chords that he had learnt into an chord progression, and sung the lyrics over it. This was his first completed song. Brett then found himself thoroughly enjoying songwriting, and after performing at the wedding of his cousin, he then realised that this was the only thing that he wanted to pursue as a career. The stage was where he belonged... Another major influence on Brett was a family friend by the name of Jack Savoretti. He wrote songs and Brett's mother brought a CD of his home one day and played it, inspiring Brett to write his own songs. From then on, Brett continued to cover songs, but when he covered songs, they gave him the inspiration to write his own. This then lead to him creating a YouTube channel, 'SamBrettMusic' where he uploaded videos frequently to get feedback on his music, and to see the opinions of people, other than my family and friends. Brett aspires to work on his music constantly to keep bettering himself in order to fulfill his ambition of becoming a world wide name in the music industry.
